Sugilite is a recently discovered stone, discovered in 1994 by Ken-Ichi Sugi in Shikoku Japan. It became a more popular and well-known stone with the discovery of a large sugilite deposit in South Africa. It is a popular stone among stone healers, demand for the stone greatly exceeding supply, making high quality specimens expensive and hard-to-find.

Sugilite is a very complex stone. It is a potassium, sodium, lithium, iron, manganese, aluminum silicate. Several of these elements have particularly beneficial properties for our nervous system, a quality Ken-Ichi Sugi noticed.

Sugilite is considered a sacred stone in several healing modalities. It is a very beautiful stone, primarily various shades of purple. It helps sooth the pain of trauma, particularly any trauma based in the pelvic region. In Classical Chinese Medicine it is described as a strengthener of the Heart-Kidney axis – Love and vitality in Western terms. In Classical Chinese medicine, sexual vitality and vitality are synonymous terms.
