Resilient Root began with a question that has been on my mind for nearly twenty years: how do we become more resilient?
Not just to address this issue or that one, but to become stronger at the root. How do we build a foundation strong enough to support us through the challenges of daily life? How do we create a greater sense of strength, solace, and protection?
The question has become more urgent with time. It seems that more and more people are facing significant challenges while feeling less equipped to meet them. Many of us find ourselves caught in a cycle of addressing one concern after another, always reacting to what is directly in front of us. Over time, I began wondering what might happen if we focused on strengthening the foundation itself.
The tallest oak does not stand because of its branches. It stands because of its roots. Everything we admire about the tree depends on what we cannot see. The roots provide stability, but they also connect the tree to its source of nourishment. Resilient Root was designed with this principle in mind: to support the foundation from which everything else grows.
As people began working with this formula, a pattern emerged. Again and again, people described a return of rhythm. Sleep, appetite, daily routines, meditation, even the way they approached their work and relationships seemed to fall into a more natural order. Several people even spoke specifically of feeling drawn downward, not in a heavy way, but in a way that brought a sense of calm and quiet, as though they were becoming more rooted.
That renewed sense of rhythm appeared in many forms. Some found it easier to organize their time and projects. Others noticed a greater sense of discernment and a reduced tendency to be pulled into situations that no longer served them. Protection is one of the themes of this formula, but not protection in the sense of building walls. Oak has a pan-cultural presence – known for its enduring strength and longevity, a physical embodiment of spiritual resilience, a conduit between the earthly and spiritual realms. Trees require water for their sustenance. To energetically nourish the oak force within us, the second component of Resilient Root is Sacred water. The source for this component is water that was gathered from 18 sources that was blessed by their indigenous spiritual leaders. Water is the carrier for the vital force in the physical world. Humans and plants are symbiotic organisms – we inhale oxygen, we exhale carbon dioxide. For trees and plants, it’s reversed. We are a breathing pair. We breathe the life of spirit – in-spired – together. The spiritual aspect of air as the carrier for spirit and life is recognized in all spiritual traditions.
