The heart is our personal Sun. Throughout our life, it never stops shining. Its task – to energize the blood that flows through our body.
That’s not the only thing we ask of it. Our heart also carries our emotional energies. When we face the world with a warm and open heart, our heart supports our physical wellbeing. Our path is clear.
But we often choose to constrict our heart.
Why would we do that?
Lots of reasons! Who hasn’t known a broken heart? Or as Hamlet says dramatically, “the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.” Faced with what seems a cruel world, a heart can grow cold with fear and stress. A heart may carry emotional scars, and block the flow.
When a heart hardens, it loses its native strength. If we are hurt often, life overwhelms, and we retreat. We create distance from what distresses us…we still function, but not with the strength we might have.
